My WIP

I was at the store the other day scouring the magazine rack when my eye fell upon this gem. I snatched it up and couldn't wait to get home and read it!

It has a wide range of projects in it. Starting out with Kitchen & Dining it goes onto Quilts, Gifts & Accessories, Bags & Totes and Home Decor. I really want to do almost every project in this publication. The first one I picked out was this fabulous Table Runner.
My Mom said how much she loved this and would love it in Reds and Purples. Reds and Purples it is with some Gray thrown in the mix.

Here it is up on my design wall.

This was a fast project and was fun and easy sewing.

I had asked a couple of girlfriends what they thought about the colors choices and they each told me what they didn't particularly like. I axed a few, but decided to keep these. I really love the way it's coming together at this point.

Here it is all quilted! I still have to bind it and so it's still a WIP, but I love the way it turned out!!

I did some Echo Quilting for the first time and really Love it! I can't wait to get the binding on it!!

I'm linking up to W.I.P Wednesday and can't wait to see what everyone is working on. Have a great Wednesday and if you haven't' signed up for my giveaways stop on over :)

Sun Poisoning And The Start Of A Great Quilt

Being practically "albino" (as one of my friends likes to call me) is not conducive with living in Texas. Yesterday I went to my sons T-ball game and came home looking like this.

This looked pretty bad, until I woke up this morning to this.

This was after I put a family remedy that works amazingly well on burns. I have pretty much felt sick all day :( On a brighter note I'm getting a girls day tomorrow!! I couldn't be more excited to spend the day with a couple of great girlfriends (Julie over at Jolie Maxtin and Jessica over at Take A Long Hard Look) for a day full of sewing, eating and having a blast. I am going to start a new project which I said I wasn't going to do, but since I felt horrific all day I didn't have time to cut out a bunch of different projects that I was going to be taking over there tomorrow. This is true, but I also have quilting ADD. Here is the quilt I'm going to be working on tomorrow.

This is out of Elizabeth Hartman's book The Practical Guide to Patchwork. I love this book and have wanted to make several quilts out of it forever and just haven't had the time. So tomorrow is the day. Also I think it will be perfect for some fabric I haven't had the heart to cut into yet. My Outfoxed fabric by Lizzy House is finally getting cut up. The colors I'm using are pinks and purples with a splash of this awesome yellow/orange for the frames. The background is going to be Kona Snow.
No more petting it's time to get down to business!!

I'll see you guys back here tomorrow for some awesome giveaways!! I have two in store, so tell all your friends to stop by for a chance to win!
Have a great night and stay out of the SUN!!

Inspiration Strikes!!

Once you start quilting it's funny how you see patchwork in all kinds of places. This was some artwork for the band Death Cab For Cutie. Looks like a modern quilt to me :)

Have you seen any patchwork in unlikely places? Now back to work I have two quilts I need to finish ASAP! See you soon.

Who loves Heather Ross?!!

I just had to share this real quick!! On Sunday I was thinking about how much I heart Heather Ross and I was wondering when her next collection was coming out. Checked out her blog and didn't see anything about a new collection. However I saw today that she indeed has a new collection and it's coming out in June. She is also going to Quilt Market so those of you who are going keep an eye out :)
Here is a little taste.

At some point I really hope she reprints Mendocino. Me and probably everyone else :) Pop on over to her blog to check out the rest of the cuteness that is to come.
See you soon.

A little paper piecing if you please

I have been wanting to try my hand at paper piecing for a while now, but just have had a million and one things on my plate. Yesterday I took the plunge. I was catching up on some blog reading and popped on over to From The Blank Pages. Diane has an amazing blog and she has some pretty awesome patterns on Craftsy. So like I was saying, I was playing catch up on some recent blog posts I missed and saw her tutorial for paper piecing. I decided I needed to break from what I was working on and decided to follow along with her Two Stars Squared pattern. When I saw it I immediately thought about my Modern BOM Sampler I'm making and thought it would be a nice addition. I just love all the blocks I have done so far. You can see them here and here and here. I had a hard time with the improv block and never finished it. I didn't take a lot of pictures, because it was raining and dark all day. I need better lighting for sure. This kept happening to me where I would fold the paper back to cut the excess fabric and would cut the fabric off I just sewed :(

A little irritating, especially when you do it over and over again.

I finally got all four done and love the the final block!!! I still need to sew it all up, but was so tired last night and wanted to show it off.

I'm also linking up with Quilt Story Fabric Tuesday.
Happy Tuesday!!!
